Survey number HAER ID-32-C
Significance: It is significant as the backup controlling mechanism for the Lake Coeur D'Alene impoundment. The South Channel dam is a simple concrete gravity-flow structure. It measures 78' in length and it is equipped with six original gates of sliding pattern design, each measuring 6' wide and 13' high. The dam has undergone minimal alteration since its construction (1904-06).
